This commercial clients basement flooded in Taylors, SC due to a water fountain issue. As you can see in the photos the insulation was soaking wet meaning that the wood floor joists were wet too. We removed the wet insulation and dried the joist system to ensure no microbial growth would occur. This client was satisfied with the results.
In many cases we find clients just do not understand the importance of removing wet insulation. It appears as though it is a building material that can be dried in place. To some extent you may be able to dry damp insulation, however when it is saturated it loses R-Value and becomes a perfect spot for mold to grow.
Ultimately we always follow the IICRC guidelines on all water damages.
